If you’re winnings are under $600 any lottery retailer can pay you out. Lotto prizes between $600-$100,000 can be claimed at any officicial lottery office. Prizes over $100,000 have to be claimed directly at the lottery headquarters in Dorchester, MA. Please remember that in certain casews you must provide valid verification method and identification.
The remainder of prize money will be made to the estate to the passed away and/or deceased prize claimer.
Typically, prizes over $600 will 5% witheld and setnt to the department of revenue. For larger prizes, up to 24% can be held and wil be sent to the IRS and an additioanl 5% is sent to the Massachusetts department of revenue.
